PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION ABOUT BOARDING YOUR BIRD WITH US.

After much debate, we have decided to begin to board birds to help our rescue efforts.  We are members of both the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters, NAPPS, and Pet Sitters International, PSI.  We will be sitting for their certification examinations in the near future.  We are both bonded and insured too and we will provide you with that information, if you so desire.  We do require that any bird to be boarded with us be vet checked within the last year, or sooner if the bird(s) has/have been boarded elsewhere within this last year, to the same standards as the rescues taken in here.  We will need the records to be faxed to us at (847) 509-1034 prior to drop off.

These tests include:

1. Polyoma shot or test,
2. Psittacine Beak & Feather,
3. Psittacosis,
4. Fecal,
5. Complete blood count (CBC), and
6. Avian chemistry panel w/bile acids.

Other Requirements

A. Appointment is necessary for drop off and pick up.
B. Toys for your bird's enrichment.
C. Cage cover.

Failure to comply with requirements 1-6 will be cause to not allow your bird(s) to board with us; failure to comply with A-C above will necessitate us to charge a reasonable rate to cover expenses.  For holiday boarding, at least six (6) months will be necessary as we get booked quickly for the holidays.  We are aware that these requirements are strict, but with avian medicine where it is, we feel we are providing a level of safety that you will not find elsewhere.  If you are unsure of what category size your bird falls into, please contact the staff at the Refuge and they will advise you.

Fees

1. Extra large bird $19.00/day (This would include: Moluccan Cockatoos, Macaws, Greater Sulfur Crested Cockatoos, & large Umbrella Cockatoos)
2. Large bird $15.00/day (This would include Amazons, African Greys, Large Conures, Severe Macaws, Lories, etc.)
3. Medium bird $11.00/day (This would include Micro/Mini-Macaws. Cockatiels, etc.)
4. Small bird $9.00/day (This would include Budgerigars, Canaries, Finches, Lovebirds, etc.)
5. Special diets/medications $3.00 each/day
6. In-home sitting* $30.00/day
7. Wing Clipping $10.00
8. Beak Trimming $15.00
9. Nail Clipping $15.00
10. Microchipping - AVID Chips $25.00

* Plus mileage over 20 miles at a rate of $ 0.37/mile.
