We are very happy to report that Fonzie got adopted on 8/24/08. Please join us in wishing him and his new family well. We hope to post some updates as time goes by!
Fonzie is a male cockatiel who has recovered completely from being lost outside and being injured by an animal. He was lucky enough to fly into a couple’s garage near Algonquin and his rescuers took him to the vet there. We called him Fonzie because the feathers on the back of his head form a ducktail, like the 50’s hairstyle. His wings are clipped.
He likes to sit on top of his cage and he sings very pretty songs. He responds back if you whistle to him. Surprisingly, you can hear his sweet chirp amidst the commotion of the shelter. He has a very good appetite and relishes the shelter’s cockatiel mix. Come and meet Fonzie and see what an upbeat guy he is.
To work in joint cooperation with all avian rescue groups to try and eliminate the need for rescue groups by educating the public about aviculture issues. Until that is accomplished, we will provide a sanctuary for those unfortunate parrots that are in need of a home.
