Hi! My name is Miguel and I'm a Red-Lored Amazon.

I have quite a story. I was born in Honduras and taken from the wild, so this means I came to the United Stated prior to 1992, before importing parrots became illegal. I was adopted once from the Refuge, but my dad had a hard time dealing with all the birds he had, so we all came to live at the Refuge.

Since I've been back, I've already had the chance to be fostered by one of the male teenage volunteers. I do prefer me and I also love apples, veggies and popcorn.

When you ask me what my name is, I will often reply "Miguel" in a gruff voice. I'm a fun guy!

Make sure to contact the Refuge if you'd like to learn more about me.

Love,

Miguel

Our Mission is Simple

To work in joint cooperation with all avian rescue groups to try and eliminate the need for rescue groups by educating the public about aviculture issues.  Until that is accomplished, we will provide a sanctuary for those unfortunate parrots that are in need of a home.
