Don't Buy, Don't Breed
Please Adopt a Bird in Need.

Why? The Refuge was established to provide a safe place for those parrots that, for a number of reasons, have to be re-homed, sometimes through just the unfortunate situations that sometimes arise. Most of them were loved dearly loved and cared for and when that was no longer possible, their companion-person did the most selfless act of kindness in finding them a good home…
Security in Numbers Some of our feathered friends come to the Refuge as an only companion to find a true connection, whether human or bird…
Friendships The Refuge is about gaining friendships between the volunteers who so diligently and lovingly help care for those birds waiting for that forever home, as well as establishing bonds amongst our many fortunate birds that reside here…

Peter has been adopted!  Her foster mother just could not return her to the Rescue as the two of them have become so close and Peter is a happy bird at home.  We shall post an update soon.

Peter is actually a girl, as she had some trouble laying her egg when we got her and she had to have an operation to fix it.  Since then she is one of the happiest and friendliest additions to the Refuge.

She has quite an extensive vocabulary as well as a variety of songs, sung and whistled. She will do a spin dance when we sing. She will also tell you to “shut up”, if you sing off key (quite common). Peter loves companionship, and will call out ”what’s going on?” if she can’t see you, or give an increasingly insistent “hello-o”. She gives gentle kisses and says “I love you”. She also hunkers down and screams “Murder – Murder” in a deep sinister voice followed by “Oh Yeah!”

What a Beauty!

Our Mission is Simple

To work in joint cooperation with all avian rescue groups to try and eliminate the need for rescue groups by educating the public about aviculture issues.  Until that is accomplished, we will provide a sanctuary for those unfortunate parrots that are in need of a home.
